Gender & Development Consulting

I am a gender and development consultant. As a Senior Researcher at Ladysmith, a woman-led consultancy, I focus on gender-sensitive research across various areas, including humanitarian crises, gender-based violence, women’s leadership, and women’s economic empowerment. My recent projects include developing a gender-just climate strategy for CARE International, leading a global analysis of adolescent girls’ leadership with Save the Children, and conducting a gender programmatic review for UNICEF Ethiopia. In addition to my role at Ladysmith, I am also an International Coordinator and Project Manager at the University of Oxford. I am building a global network for the British Academy-Knowledge Frontiers Project on rights and global order in Latin America. I also served as a Lead Consultant for TAG International, focusing on gender equality and the prevention of serious and organized crime in Ecuador.

Oxford: The Rise of the Right against Rights and Global (Dis)Order in Latin America and Beyond

Since May 2023, I have supporting the establishment of a global network of researchers and practitioners for the British Academy-Knowledge Frontiers Project titled The Rise of the Right against Rights and Global (Dis)Order in Latin America and Beyond, directed by Oxford Professor Leigh Payne. This project examines the backlash against rights for women, LGBT+ communities, BIPOC groups, immigrants, and other marginalized populations, exploring how right-wing movements are targeting these rights, leading to polarized and violent conflicts. It analyzes who is driving this backlash, where and why it is occurring, and its broader impact on global social order. At Ladysmith, I lead various projects aimed at advancing gender-sensitive approaches in different sectors. For example, for CARE International, I developed a gender-just climate strategy for the UK government, providing key recommendations to the UK government. I conducted a global analysis of adolescent girls’ and young women’s leadership for Save the Children and led a Gender Programmatic Review for UNICEF Ethiopia, focusing on gender-responsive humanitarian and economic empowerment strategies. Additionally, I contributed to UN Women’s 2024 World Survey on social protection, managed a project mapping pro-rights organizations countering the global pushback against gender equality, and developed tools for UNICEF’s Gender Section to address gendered barriers to immunization. Across these projects, I bring together research, stakeholder engagement, and targeted recommendations to ensure that gender equity is at the forefront of decision-making.

Ladysmith – Senior Researcher

Ladysmith is a consultancy that partners with multilateral agencies to design and execute gender-sensitive research projects. By collaborating with organizations like UNICEF, UN Women, CARE International, and Save the Children, Ladysmith supports the development of strategies and programs that prioritize gender equity and social justice in policy and practice.
